Erne cut from Team USA

Team USA announced the first three cuts from the World Juniors team after following Friday’s exhibition game versus Boston University. Surprisingly, Lightning prospect forward Adam Erne was one of the players sent packing. The US team  has 15 forwards and  nine defensemen left. It is very unusual for a returning player to be cut, but Erne’s lackluster performance last year coupled with a bad game on Friday night was enough for Team USA to break tradition. (Photo/Susan Ferlita)

This is not a good sign for the Bolts who drafted Erne in round two (33rd) overall in 2013.

Lightning prospect forward Brayden Point made the Team Canada squad.
