Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy will be sent back to the Syracuse Crunch sometime this week.

According to Syracuse.com:

Assistant general manager Julien Brisebois stated that Vasilevskiy will return to Syracuse, on a nine-game winning streak, in time for its game against Albany on Friday. Vasilevskiy made a huge impression with the Lightning, beating Philadelphia in his NHL debut on Tuesday and then stopping a rookie franchise record 45 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Islanders.

The Crunch also loaned forward Jerome Samson to Team Canada for the Spengler Cup.

Obviously, the young Russian netminder needs to play as the number one and shouldn’t be saddled with playing once a week at this point in his career. If Evgeni Nabokov continues to struggle and Ben Bishop continues to get hurt, we most certainly will see Vasy again this season. For now, this is the right move.
